Project Description

With an identity freshly created by the Walker Art Center Design Studio, the SVA Masters of Design Criticism needed a better website. D-Crit’s first website was static HTML and made in Dreamweaver; not the caliber of interaction befitting a prestigious program.

The new D-Crit site carries the split style design from the first generation website, but making it more dynamic, optomized, and usable. A prominent feature of the new site is the Reading Room, a sortable, animated list of written design criticism contributed by faculty, students, and friends of the program. Additionally students and facutly can maintain profiles with links to their web identities such as twitter and flickr.

The site is based on WordPress, using a heavily customized theme and view logic, along with several custom plug-ins. WordPress was chosen for it’s extensibility, familiar and friendly interface, and track record.
